An office of the Synergy Group Kazakhstan – the Kazakhstan unit of Synergy Research Group – was officially opened in the city of Almaty on April 2, 2007. The company’s office is situated at the following address: Almaty, Keremet neighborhood, 6. Synergy Group Kazakhstan Ltd. had been registered on March 2, 2007.
Synergy Group Kazakhstan is the first contract research organization operating on the Kazakhstan soil. The person appointed as the company’s Director is Irina Spartakovna Kim, Candidate of Medicine, an expert in the field of evidence-based medicine, who has an international EBM (Evidence Based Medicine) certificate within a joint project of USAID and the British Council, and a great experience of medical and pedagogical work at the Almaty State Institute of Advanced Medical Training (AGIUV).
The main directions of activities of Synergy Group Kazakhstan will be organization and assistance of conducting clinical trials: stages III and IV, market research and bioequivalence tests. Besides, the company is supposed to be engaged in extensive educational activities aimed at training national specialists in clinical trials, the GCP basics, clinical monitoring and other aspects of clinical studies. The third among the principal directions of the company’s activities will be promotion of clinical trials in Kazakhstan and publication of a specialized edition on clinical trials in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The principal document, which regulates clinical trials in Kazakhstan, is the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On medications” (No. 522-2, January 13, 2004). Though the law has been in force for three years already, the market of clinical trials is just emerging, therefore, the new company sees one of its strategic objectives in creation and development of a civilized market of clinical trials in Kazakhstan, in close cooperation with the Committee for pharmacy, pharmaceutical and medical industry at the Health Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National center for examination of medications, medical purpose products and medical equipment.
“Being the first contract research organization in Kazakhstan, which opened its official and permanent representation in the republic, Synergy Research Group has demonstrated in practice seriousness of its intentions regarding for the Kazakhstan market of clinical trials”, says Irina Kim.
